Tennis Court Builders

When you are looking for a tennis court builder you need to be assured that the company you choose is able to build you a tennis court that will remain stable, look good, require low maintenance and last. As a successful builder of tennis courts, we have taken our 30 years of experience to create this list of things you should know and things you should look for when choosing a tennis court builder:

10 common things you should know

  1. No surface is maintenance free, however correct planning and choice of surface may allow more play time and less work time.
  2. When designing a tennis court it is essential to take into account not only site orientation but also the physical features of the residence etc.
  3. Whilst the size of the tennis court enclosure can vary greatly, the playing lines are a fixed dimension.
  4. Statewide planning schemes may allow for lighting of your tennis court “as- a- right’
  5. Environmental lighting systems now ‘spill’ little or no light into adjoining property.
  6. Modern tennis courts can be used for a variety of sports eg:- cricket, basketball, netball, hockey, cycling, Tball, softball, running, inline skating..even ice  skating.
  7. Qualified tennis court builders should process builders licences and all necessary insurances to protect the client.
  8. Water runoff from your tennis court can be saved for irrigation  in large storage tanks beneath the court.(every 10mm of rain equates to approximately 5,000 litres of water runoff.)
  9. Tennis courts can be built over garages, media rooms, cellars and domestic dwellings.
  10. Victoria has one of the largest number of private tennis courts per population in the world.

10 common things you should look for:

  1. Does your builder know the state and local planning code?
  2. Does your builder have all insurances including, Workcare, public liability, whole of works, product and professional? If not, responsibility for these items may revert to you as the owner of the property.
  3. Has the builder shown you a well used court? Or is he trying to convince you that the small sample he is showing has any relevance to the end playing surface.
  4. Are there appropriate guarantees and warranties on all products and services?
  5. Are the products offered up to international quality? Or are they being offered to you merely to keep the price low.
  6. Does your builder belong to the suitable professional bodies eg. Sportsfield builders Association of Australia and the Australian Institution of Engineers.
  7. How long has your builder been trading under the current company structure?
  8. When building a concrete slab ensure the reinforcement is correctly placed on ‘bar-chairs’ to gain greatest strength.
  9. Avoid non proven engineering construction techniques such as laying synthetic grass directly over unbound granular materials and sub base.
  10. Where possible employ a builder who has access to the latest construction equipment.
